"I'm courageous enough to know when I can accomplish great things. I am humble enough to know when to ask for help."

- Katrina Mayer

About

In our modern and challenging lives it is not uncommon to reach a particular point where pressures can become overwhelming. This can be for a number of reasons. It may be that an exceptional event has had a major impact on your ability to function healthily; it may be that you have been diagnosed with a specific condition; or it may be a self-realisation that your life-journey isn't unfolding as you would like.

My role is to support you in better understanding your desired outlook and by introducing a range of tools and therapies, help you address and positively manage your own outcome.

ABOUT  ME

Gemma King   MBACP

Highly experienced Integrative Therapist, providing specialised:

  • child, adolescent and parent support

  • adult therapies

  • supervision for Counsellors/Therapists, and Child Welfare Teams in school.

My clinic is located in central Victoria, London SW1.

Connecting with a compassionate, empathic and experienced therapist in a safe space can facilitate extraordinary positive change within a short space of time.

I would like to welcome you and/or your child or loved one into that safe space.

It takes courage to acknowledge when you need support, and to take the first steps to helping yourself.

Many adults choose to work with me because they are experiencing overwhelming emotions that are impacting on their sense of self, their relationships, their work, and their ability to move forward in their lives.

Many parents ask me to work with their child because they are presenting with challenging behaviours or they appear unhappy or anxious. In my experience, it is when we work holistically, with the input of parents and teachers, that we can facilitate the most successful outcome.

Many parents ask me to support them in coping with their challenging or struggling child; to develop strategies to enable a more harmonious home environment, and more successful outcomes at school.

My aim is to support you to:

1) empower yourself to better manage distressing emotions and behaviours

2) develop your resilience

3) accept your whole self with compassion and without judgment.

How I Work

HOW  I  WORK

I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework.

Consultations are 50 minutes long and the duration of the therapy can be short or long term depending on the needs of the individual.

Adult and Adolescent clients often wish to talk through their challenges within the therapy room, however I also offer:

  • Mindfulness meditations and techniques

  • PROREAL digital therapy (see proreal.world) - This service can be accessed remotely.

  • Video call consultations

  • Yoga therapy

Child clients can have access to PLAY THERAPY, including the use of:

  • Children's Yoga

  • Sand Tray

  • Puppets

  • Creative arts

  • Games

  • Music

  • Mindfulness techniques

The practice of Mindfulness potentiates our ability to focus on our thoughts and feelings with compassionate curiosity. It enables us to embrace more fully our authentic self, the beautiful, the compelling, the boring, and the unpleasant, with equal interest.
